Brussels 10/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 18 July, Danuta Hübner, European Commissioner in charge of Regional Policy, together with the President of the Committee of the Regions, Michel Delabarre, will present the press with the programme "2006 OPEN DAYS European Week of Regions and Cities", planned to be held from 9 to 12 October with the slogan "Investing in Europe's Regions and Cities: Public and Private Partners for Growth and Jobs".
A press release indicated that the European Commission, the Committee of the Regions, the European Parliament, 135 regions and cities and many businesses, banks and civil society organisations have drafted a programme containing more than 100 workshops and seminars in Brussels, and events throughout the Member States of the EU. This year, these Open Days will focus on five categories of themes: - investing in competitive businesses and high-quality jobs; - stimulating regional innovation; - investing in the sustainable use of resources and environmental technologies; - supporting partnerships between the public sector and the private sector in favour of major infrastructure projects; - reducing the administrative burdens in the management of structural funds during the period of the financial perspectives 2007-2013.
