Second railway package: four countries in the dock

Brussels, 29/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has sent Greece, Italy, Portugal and Slovenia a reasoned opinion for failing to notify the Commission of any transposition measures for directive 2004/51/EC. This directive, which is part of the framework of the Second Railway Package, aims to open the market for international freight transport by rail as of 1 January 2006 and the market for national transport by 1 January 2007.
