29/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - Lithuanian's Defence Minister, Social Democrat Gediminas Kirkilas, may be the country's new prime minister in line with the decision taken on 29 June by President Valdas Adamkus. His appointment, however, has to be approved by the Lithuanian parliament. Mr Kirkilas gathered only 53 deputies out of 141, but he hopes to reach an agreement with the conservative opposition so that it tolerates his centre-left government. Lithuania has been without a prime minister...
