Brussels, 01/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - The ETSC (European Transport Safety Council) has welcomed the initiative of the European Commission to promote "Intelligent Cars" (see EUROPE 9136) and hopes that this strategy will feed into the continuation of road safety priorities, such as reducing speeding, the fight against drink-driving and the use of the seatbelt. Welcoming the event held in Brussels to present the public with examples of "intelligent cars", ETSC director Jörg Beckmann said: "To now, most actions taken to improve safety have not had political priority, and those seeking to move automobile technology forwards do not concentrate sufficiently on safety".
