Commission suggests increasing duty free for goods accompanying international passenger traffic - introduction or abolition of quantitative limits for certain products

Brussels, 27/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Laszlo Kovacs, Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, put forward a proposal for a directive on 27 February, aimed at adjusting duty free thresholds for goods carried in the personal luggage of passengers entering the European Union. Furthermore, the proposal updates or does away with the quantitative limits for some products such as alcoholic drinks, coffee and perfume.
