Member States' mixed feelings on animal welfare standards

Brussels, 21/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - EU agriculture ministers were divided on 20 February over the 2006-10 action plan objectives on animal welfare (EUROPE 9116). The Council called on experts to continue examining the document and the Austrian presidency intends to present its conclusions to the Agriculture Council on 22-23 May. France, Ireland, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic and Cyprus underlined the need to check the socio-economic effects...
