30/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 29 November, the British Presidency issued the following statement on Somalia on behalf of the EU: 'The EU welcomed the resolution endorsed by members of Parliament in Mogadishu on 15 November, in which they express their readiness to engage in dialogue without preconditions. This proposal is especially welcome as it is in line with the Prime Minister's initiative. The EU wants to see this proposal for dialogue implemented without delay and stresses that the focus of the above dialogue should be an early, successfully and representative session of Parliament. If necessary, the EU stands ready to assist and support the process, including financially.
