Parliament takes position at second reading in favour of stricter rules on waste transfer whilst taking Council's views into account

Strasbourg, 28/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - Taking position at second reading on the revision of the Community regulation on the surveillance of waste transfers inside the EU, into it and leaving it, the European Parliament has considerably tightened up the rules proposed in order to avoid illegal exports of waste, particularly "dustbin ships", which are sent to the developing countries to be scrapped.
