22/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Région Centre (France) is to hold a conference on the theme "The Contribution of the Regions to Europe's Action in the World" in Orléans on 6 October. The work will be opened by Michel Sapin, president of the Région Centre, Roger Briesch, vice president of the European Economic and Social Committee, Louis Le Pensec, president of the French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, Charles Josselin, president of Cités Unies France and Jacques Attali, writer and president of PlaNet Finance. There will be four round tables on the following themes: 1) the contribution of the regional dimension to Community actions under emergency humanitarian aid; 2) the place of the regions in the EU's trade with third countries; 3) the involvement of the regions in the European development aid policy; 4) the role of the regions in the EU's international cultural exchanges.
