THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) ep/holocaust

21/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - Following the death of Simon Wiesenthal, whose Jewish Documentation Centre after the war helped track down more than a thousand Nazis, the president of the European Parliament Josep Borrell declared, “One of the 'just” has left us. He fought throughout his life for the duty to remember and not forget. 'Never again', he used to say. We will never forget him. His fight to track down Nazi criminals was never tinged with the spirit of revenge, but inspired by a desire for justice. He believed in a Europe of peace, reconciliation and human rights. It is thanks to men like him that Europe has put an end to tearing itself apart and its fratricidal wars”.
