Brussels, 31/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - Lucien Lux, Luxembourg Transport Minister, attended the 89th session of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) in Moscow on 24 and 25 May, at which transport ministers from 43 States were gathered. Mr Lux presented the Luxembourg EU Transport Council Presidency's interim review (see other article). Furthermore, he defended his country's position in the field of road transport and public transport, recalling that Luxembourg hopes to promote quality road transport, which takes account not only of environmental but also social concerns. He took a stance, moreover, against a recommendation from the ECMT secretariat general recommending that calls for tenders should be used for awarding public service contracts.
