Brussels, 26/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - At a working lunch on 21 April Brussels, Danuta Hübner, Commissioner for regional policy and Jean Lemierre, president of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) discussed cooperation regarding regional policy in central European regional countries. Ms Hübner and Mr Lemierre exchanged ideas on the setting up of joint projects in different sectors: energy efficiency, public transport, micro-credit, funding for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and local infrastructure etc.
Hübner and Lemierre gave the go-ahead for a tripartite meeting (Commission, European Investment Bank/EIB-EBRD) immediately after the hoped for adoption of the financial perspectives for 2007-13 at the end of June. This meeting will be followed by meetings with representatives of selected countries with the aim of launching new projects in 2006.
This discussion is part of the meeting follow-up a fortnight ago between Hübner and the president of the EIB Philippe Maystadt (EUROPE 8925).
