18/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's Intergroup for social economy and subsidiarity was created in Strasbourg, with Mario Mauro (Forza Italia) as its president and the former European Research Commissioner, Philippe Busquin ( Belgian Socialist) as its vice-president. In a press release, Mr Mauro is pleased to state that, as well as cooperatives, mutual societies and all the other forms of the solidarity society can benefit from a network at the heart of the European institutions. He said one of the largest challenges of this legislature will be to diffuse this culture of subsidiarity and solidarity within the civil societies of the new Member States.
