Brussels, 18/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Chief Prosecutor at the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, Carla del Ponte, will take part in the Troika Ministerial meeting between the EU and Croatia on 26 April, which could be decisive for the EU decision on opening accession negotiations with Croatia.. Addressing a group of journalists on Saturday, following a “Gymnich” meeting, Mr Asselborn explained that “I have organised a meeting on 26 April, which Ms del Ponte will attend, as well as ministers from the next British and Austrian presidencies, and the EU High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana and the Commissioner for Enlargement, Olli Rehn”. Asselborn also said that they would be listening to what Ms del Ponte and the Croat authorities had to say about the state of cooperation between Zagreb and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTFY) and on the basis of this information, “hoped to be able to find a solution for moving things forward”. He added, “I repeat what I've always said, the door of the European Union is still open to Croatia but the key to open this door is in Croatia's possession”. Mr Asselborn explained that following the Troika meeting, the Luxembourg presidency will hold a meeting with the Croat government to examine the next stages.
