14/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Finance Ministers of the G7, who will meet on the 16 and 17 April in Washington, in parallel to the Spring General Assembly of the Monetary Fund (and with the participation of the European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Joaquin Almunia), will once again call for more flexibility in Asian currencies, but are unlikely to adopt a more “aggressive” tone than one year ago in Boca Raton. As Jean-Claude Juncker stressed following the last meeting of the Eurogroup (EUROPE 8926), the discussions will also deal with oil prices, and particularly the possibilities for increasing their transparency and reducing speculation on the markets. The next G8 Summit (USA, Canada, Japan, the UK, Germany, France and Italy, plus Russia) is planned for July at Gleneagles in Scotland.
