Commission brings Italy before Court of Justice for failing to recover illegal aid

Brussels, 08/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has decided to bring Italy before the Court of Justice due to its failure to recover illegal State aid granted to companies buying up businesses in liquidation. In March 2004, the Commission concluded that subsidies and reductions in social security payments granted to companies which buy up large companies in difficulties constituted illegal State aid (EUROPE 8678).
