08/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday evening, the Commissioner in charge of Competition, Neelie Kroes, welcomed her American counterpart, the President of the Federal Trade Commission, Deborah Platt Majoras. Their meeting, which lasted around forty minutes, focused on the possibilities of increasing transatlantic cooperation in the field of competition and mergers. Ms Platt Majoras, who said that her institution was not working on the Microsoft case, added that no other joint affair had been raised. This first meeting between these two women since they took up office (November 2004 in the case of Mr Kroes and August 2004 in that of Ms Platt Majoras) comes under regular dialogue.
