European Parliament delegation in Geneva

Brussels, 05/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of seven MEPs led by French Green Helène Flautre, president of the EP sub-committee on human rights will be in Geneva on 3 - 6 April for the 61st session of the UN Human rights Commission, which begins on 14 March and ends 22 April (EUROPE.8909 and 8917 for the contributions by President of the Council, Asselborn, and ambassador Berns). On Monday MEPs took part in a UN panel on reform of the human rights commission and met Ambeyl Ligabo, the rapporteur on freedom of opinion and expression. On Tuesday they held meetings with Heads of missions from EU Member States: Louise Harbour, High Commissioner for the UN on human rights, Juan Miguel Petit, Special rapporteur on trafficking in children, and Canadian ambassador Paul Meyer.
