05/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - Some fifty officials from US investigative agencies, prosecutorial offices and the State Department will be in Europe from 6-8 April to take part in a seminar organised in Brussels by the Luxembourg EU Council Presidency on the criminal justice and border management systems of the EU and its Member States. On 8 April, the delegation will visit Europol and Eurojust in The Hague, a press release states, specifying that a seminar of the same kind will be held in the United States this autumn, for European experts. According to the press release, the themes tackled will range from the European arrest warrant to data protection, visas to border management, and terrorism and financial crime to Member States' intelligence systems. It was during the Italian EU Council presidency in 2003 that the European Union and the United States had decided to launch a programme to enhance the understanding by officials on both sides of the Atlantic of each other's criminal justice systems.
