Brussels, 05/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, after closing the applications procedure for the successor to Supachai Panitchpakdi at the post of Director General at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on 1 September 2005, the WTO made an official announcement disclosing the four candidates still in the running: Pascal Lamy (EU candidate), Carlos Perez del Castillo (Uruguay), Jaya Krishna Cuttaree (Mauritius) and Luiz Felipe de Seixas Corrêa (Brazil). On 26 January, the four candidates will present themselves to the WTO General Council in Geneva, where the candidate for the post of Director General will be chosen by 31 May 2005 at the latest.
