Brussels, 05/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - Following the Irish and then the Dutch Presidency, it is now Luxembourg's turn to take the mantle of promoting health life-styles for young people in particular. Along with the mental health of young people, this is one of the priorities listed by the Luxembourg Presidency for the first half of 2005. It will also be prioritising work to combat obesity and smoking and will be attempting to ensure Europe takes the lead in treating rare diseases at a conference in Luxembourg. The Luxembourg Presidency will continue work on two draft directives to introduce European legislation on nutritional health claims and supplementing food with vitamins and minerals. Two other dossiers are still on the negotiating table at the Council, namely medical equipment and the draft regulation on children's doses for medicines.
