Concern at slow progress in electoral reform

Brussels, 20/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - In a statement published on 15 December, the Dutch Presidency expressed the EU's deep concern 'about the slow progress in carrying out electoral reform in Liberia' and in particular about provisions introduced by a new law for the 2005 elections. 'The EU considers that the provisions adopted by the National Transitional Legislative Assembly lead to the creation of an electoral system which does not conform to universally accepted standards.'
