17/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The World Health Organisation, the European Union and the Council of Europe are organising a conference on mental health for 12 to 15 January in Brussels. The conference will issue a declaration that should be approved unanimously by the European ministers and which should be based on the mental health programme for the WHO European region for 2005-2010. It should also promote cooperation with the Council of Europe in the field of fundamental rights of persons with mental health problems. The European Commission may be invited to make an additional effort for research into mental illness and the social inclusion of persons suffering from mental illness.
