EU25 impatiently await first results of IAEA inspections

Brussels, 22/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, EU Council President Bernard Bot welcomed the positive results of negotiations between Germany, France and the United Kingdom on behalf of the EU, on one hand, and Iran, on the other. Talks resulted in Teheran's commitment to totally suspend its uranium enrichment activities as of 22 November (see p.7). Mr Bot nonetheless said that the EU still "impatiently awaited the first results of the on-the-spot inspections carried out by inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to be disclosed during the meeting of the Agency on 25 November". "We do not wish to neglect the other issues concerning the Twenty-Five's relations with Iran, especially with respect to human rights", Mr Bot added.
