Ombudsman asks Council to hold sessions in public when it exercises legislative competency - parliament pleased with European ombudsman's work

Strasbourg, 22/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report of Irish Labour Party member Proinsias De Rossa on the European Ombudsman's annual report, the European Parliament has sent Nikiforos Diamondouros and his team a positive endorsement. Mr Diamandouros has "successfully reinforced the European Ombudsman's Office and promoted good public administration, respect for the rule of law and human rights".
