NGOs call on José Manuel Barroso to monitor transparency of industrial lobbying activities and reduce their political influence - lobbies and members of "Seap" protest

Brussels, 28/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - Around fifty NGOs mainly from the movement ATTAC, have written to Commission president-designate José Manuel Barroso asking him to reduce the influence of lobbyists in the European decision-making process. "Over fifteen thousand full-time lobbyists are currently working full time in Brussels, a large majority representing business interests", note the NGOs represented by Corporate Europe Observatory, a "research and campaign group" based in Amsterdam....
