Commission proposes monitoring of Chinese imports once quotas are abolished on 1 January 2005

Brussels, 28/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - This week, the European Commission adopted a proposal on the practical organisation of the removal of import quotas for textile products- which the European Union committed to in 1994 at the end of negotiations on the Uruguay Round- from 1 January 2005. Currently, the EU applies 210 different quotas to the 11 countries of the WTO which export textiles and clothing products: China, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea,...
