28/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to appoint Mr Jean-Charles Leygues as the new Deputy Director General for Regional Policy. Mr Leygues is 62 years old and of French nationality. He was until now a Director in DG REGIO. As DDG, Mr Leygues will be responsible for co-ordinating the EU's Cohesion policy and, in particular the negotiation of the reform of Cohesion policy within the Financial Perspectives for the 2007-2013 period.
