Loan for science and innovation in Poland

Luxembourg, 18/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has decided to grant a EUR 250 million loan in favour of science and innovation in Poland, in the form of a framework-loan which will finance State budgetary allocations. The EIB stresses in a press release that, thanks to its intervention, the Polish government will have long-term resources to successfully carry out investment projects that it deems to be priority. Poland has shown its resolve to integrate into the Lisbon process but the spending in R&D, in both public and private sectors, is at a low level given international standards and, because of budgetary constraints, have even tended to be reduced in recent years. It is therefore necessary to turn the situation round, the Bank considers.
