Amnesty International notes significant progress but refuses to give opinion on "political" opening of negotiations

Brussels, 27/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Amnesty International considers that Turkey has accomplished significant progress in the area of human rights but believes that a lot remains to be done. The human rights organisation refused, however, to give an opinion on the access process. On Monday Dick Oosting from Amnesty's European Bureau informed journalists that, "There has been very significant improvement as a result of the accession process so far…Clearly more has to be done to translate...
