02/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen told the press on Wednesday, following a meeting in Helsinki with the Austrian Chancellor Helmut Schüssel, that Finland and Austria were to present a joint programme for their Presidencies of the Council of the EU in 2006. The 2006 will be a delicate one, as several Member States of the European Union will be holding their referendums on the European Constitution at the time, said Mr Schüssel reported by AFP. It is worth noting that the Irish, Dutch, Luxembourg, British, Austrian and Finnish Presidencies have already adopted a multi-annual strategic programme for the period 2004-2006.
