The Supreme Court in Japan has ruled in favour of the continued merger negotiations between UFJ and MITSUBISHI TOKYO FINANCIAL GROUP, which the third largest bank in the country, SUMITOMO TRUST, had been trying to undermine. UFJ was set on merging its banking trust with SUMITOMO TRUST but this project was terminated when negotiations with MITSUBISHI TOKYO began.
