Luxembourg, 13/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Court of Justice has cancelled the conclusions of the Ecofin Council of 25 November 2003, containing decisions to suspend the excessive deficit procedure against Germany and France.
In the conflict between the Commission and the Council, the European judges indicated that the Council had no right to hold the rules provided by the Treaty in abeyance, or those it imposed on itself, and instead follow an "alternative procedure".
