Olli Rehn appointed Commissioner, Erkki Liikanen takes up duties as Governor of Finnish central bank

Brussels, 13/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the Council officially approved the appointment of the Finn Olli Rehn as a new member of the European Commission. Mr Rehn replaced his colleague Erkki Liikanen yesterday, as the latter took up his duties on Monday as the Governor of the Central Bank of Finland in Helsinki. Mr Rehn's appointment is valid until 31 October, but the Finnish government has already announced that it intends to keep him in the Commission for the forthcoming term,...
