Hans van den Broek is appointed special envoy to seek to unblock situation in Myanmar

Brussels, 13/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EU decided on Monday to send the former Dutch European Commissioner, Hans van den Broek, as EU special envoy to Asia to seek to resolve the dispute regarding Burma's accession to the ASEM (Euro-Asian partnership). If no solution is found, this dispute could seriously endanger the holding of the ASEM summit which is programmed for 8/9 October in Hanoï (the controversy surrounding Burma/Myanmar, it is known, has already brought about the cancellation...
