UNICE criticises EU's unilateralism and calls for new strategy to be adopted urgently - For a new Kyoto Protocol if USA and Russia do not ratify

Brussels, 09/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - With the European Union headed towards the anticipated implementation of the Kyoto Protocol on climate change with the creation of a pan-European trading market for CO2 emissions in 2005, the European employers association has criticised the policy of unilaterally implementing an international instrument on which the US has resolutely turned its back, and which is not yet in force due to Russia's failure to ratify it.
