Commission could open infringement proceedings this Wednesday against six old Member States

Brussels, 06/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - This Wednesday, the European Commission will debate penalties to be imposed against the old Member States which have not yet submitted their national allocation plans for greenhouse gas emissions quotas on time. These are: Belgium, France, Spain, Greece, Italy and Portugal.

The cut-off date was 31 March, giving the European Commission three months to examine the plans. This has now also expired. Reading the press the list of plans she has received,...
