01/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - CDU MEP Joachim Wuermeling has welcomed the introduction of the European health passport on 1 June, replacing all the other documents which used to be needed to obtain care in a country of the EU other than one's own (see above). The MEP says: this facilitation will be of benefit to the millions of people who travel in Europe each year, be it for work, study or holidays. Summer holidays start with "a concrete piece of Europe in our hands", said the MEP. The countries which have adopted the health passport from the start are Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Spain, Greece, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Slovenia (plus Norway).
