10% of asylum seekers try their luck in more than one Member State - First report by Eurodac, which collects and compares fingerprints

Brussels, 05/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - To date, over 10% of asylum seekers have applied in more than one Member State, according to the Eurodac European system for the collection and comparison of the fingerprints of asylum seekers. The objective of this system, which operates for the Member States, Norway and Iceland, is to detect multiple requests and stop people from requesting asylum in several countries.
