Brussels, 19/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana, High Representative for CFSP, has condemned the recent outbreak of violence in Kosovo and expressed his concern about the future of the province in a message personally addressed to the political leaders in Kosovo. "I urge all political leaders in Kosovo to show responsibility in ensuring that any threats or acts of violence be stopped at once, and culprits brought to justice. I also urge them to fully cooperate with UNMIK and KFOR to promptly restore order and stability in Kosovo. (…) The current events constitute a major setback to painstakingly achieved progress over the last few years, casting new doubts over the future of a multi-ethnic, peaceful Kosovo", Mr Solana said. Javier Solana was in New York on Friday to discuss the situation with the United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan.
