Brussels, 19/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European People's Party chaired by Wilfred Martens is holding its traditional pre-European Council Summit on 25 March in Brussels. Prime ministers and party leaders together with European Commissioners will attend the afternoon Summit in Meise, where prospects for a European Constitution, security issues (following 11 March) and the international situation are set to dominate the agenda. In a press release, Martens states that the coming European Council will be an important opportunity to arrive at a consensus over the Constitution "before (…) 1 May". Referring to the Madrid attacks, he underlines "Europe must be united against terrorism, and the Constitution has an important role in it".
