Budgets committee approves extra credits for ten new Member States

Brussels, 19/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Extra credit allowing the European Union to receive the ten new Member States on 1 May, rising to 11.8 billion EUR in commitment appropriations and 5.1 billion EUR in payment appropriations, were accepted on Tuesday by the European Parliament's budgets committee. The report by Jan Mulder (ELDR, Netherlands), which accepts the amending draft budget 1/2004 as it stands, will be adopted by the European Parliament in its plenary session from 8 to 11 March. The proposal was adopted on 4 February by the European Commission (EUROPE of 5 February 2004, p.8). It increases the 2004 Community budget for the enlarged Union to 111.3 billion EUR in commitment appropriations and to 99.7 billion EUR in payment appropriations.
