Brussels, 03/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Outgoing MEP Sylvia-Yvonne Kaufmann, choice for leading the PDS list for the European elections for June 2004. Aged 49, this scholar in Japanese was an MP in the former RDA and has been at the Bundestag since 1990. An Observer at the European Parliament between 1991 - 1994, she became a member in 1999 and is now seeking a second mandate. She has been very active at the two Conventions , which elaborated the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the draft European constitution.
