Commission asks Ryanair to pay back part of aid - Irish airline to appeal

Brussels, 03/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission returned its eagerly-awaited decision on the Ryanair affair: yes, part of the aid granted by Charleroi Airport and the Wallonian Region to the Irish low-cost airline was incompatible with Community provisions, and these must be reimbursed. However, the Commission has authorised most of the benefits to Ryanair, because it feels that they contribute to the objectives of regional development in the EU. The Irish company...
