Brussels, 03/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - A certain number of important reports have been withdrawn from the European Parliament plenary agenda for the session next week in Strasbourg (see detailed agenda in EUROPE yesterday pp 15-16). The reports are as follows - Janelly Fourtou on intellectual copyright; - Olle Schmidt on VAT in the postal sector; - Marit Paulsen on inspections of animal feed and foodstuffs; - Pernilla Frahm on persistant biological pollutants; - Jonas Sjösted on waste produced by extractive industries.

The Bowis report on the prevention and control of diseases, which is due to be discussed its Tuesday, has become even more relevant with the bird flu crisis (EUROPE yesterday p 10). According to the report, the centre will be expected to make recommendations and provide technical assistance to Member States and third countries.

(Another important theme in the session will be the organisation of working hours and the subject of the Cercas report debated on Monday, see p 17).
