Establishment of Schengen Information System is expected to cost EUR 28 million, nearly twice what was initially forecast

Brussels, 10/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The cost of developing the second generation Schengen Information System (SIS II) is expected to amount to nearly twice what had been initially forecast. Far from the first estimate of EUR 15.9 million for 2004-2006, the cost would be EUR 28 million according to a twice-yearly communication on the state of progress of work adopted on Wednesday by the European Commission. These figures concern the joint part of the system borne by the Community budget....
