10/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - On International Human Rights Day, 10 December, the European Commission reaffirmed its commitment in support of promoting human rights and democracy, while pointing out in a press statement that despite progress over recent years, any complacency would be unjustified. In order to mark this occasion, Commission Delegations in the Ukraine, the Ivory Coast and Indonesia launched a call for tenders for the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights as part of the micro-project programme (launched by the pap in 1994). Budgets available are EUR 600,000 to the Ukraine, EUR 800, for the Ivory Coast and the same amount for Indonesia. The Commission Delegation in Moscow also presented 17 new micro-projects that had already been selected from the same initiative, which will receive EUR 814,723.
