08/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - In its adoption of the report by Margie Sudre (EPP-ED, France) last Thursday on fishing fleets in extremely remote areas, the European Parliament is insisting that State aid to the renewal of the fleet continue until 31 December 2006, rather than the end of 2004. The EP feels that the legal basis should be article 299 (on extremely remote areas), and not article 37, as the Commission proposes.
