08/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - CDU MEP Armin Laschet asked, in a press release, for personal consequences to be drawn from the refusal of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia to publish a study on anti-Semitism in Europe, which has, in the meantime, been widely distributed, notably by MEPs (see EUROPE of 6 December, p.8). Mr Laschet says that it is "absolutely unacceptable for the President of the Centre's board, Bob Purkiss, to criticies the Berlin Centre for the poor quality of its research into anti-Semitism". On the contrary, "the quality of this study shows that the Centre has failed to divulge it since February of this year, for political reasons", said the MEP, who feels that Mr Purkiss should step down.
