18/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the German Green MEP Hiltrud Breyer welcomes the closure of the Stade nuclear power plant: it is the first Germany nuclear power station to close it doors, 'this is a historic event for Germany,' she stated, while noting that 'this is only the first step towards denuclearisation.' As for his Luxembourgian colleague Claude Turmes, he noted: 'In October we celebrated the fact that the United States had not commissioned any new nuclear power stations for 30 years. And now, with the closure of the Stade power station, nobody can reasonably deny that we are witnessing the strategic death of nuclear power.'
